What is Pilates?

Pilates is a complete exercise method developed by its founder Joseph Pilates over the course of a lifetime dedicated to improving physical and mental health.

Initially adopted by professional dancers in the US as an effective form of recovery after injury, Pilates has steadily grown in popularity around the world and includes many celebrity fans.

Pilates focuses on building your body's core strength and improving your posture through a series of repetitive low impact stretching and conditioning exercises. It corrects muscular imbalance and restores good alignment. There is evidence that with regular practice of Pilates, it can provide pain relief to people with lower back pain.

By core strength, we are talking about your back and shoulder girdle, abdominal and pelvic muscles. Through Pilates, you will be able to develop these muscles without adding bulk, increasing your flexibility and agility.

Athletes and dancers love it, as do seniors, women rebounding from pregnancy and men and women who are at various stages of physical rehabilitation. Pilates really is for everyone.

Clients with special conditions such as MS, Osteoporosis, Arthritis and chronic back pain may benefit from some one to one sessions before entering a group environment. Please contact me to arrange.

Joseph Pilates stated:

After 10 sessions you'll notice a difference, after 20 others will...

after 30 you'll have a whole new body....
